Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said ''nobody is authorised to publicly announce the value of treasure troves received from famed Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple here.'' ''I can't disclose anything in this regard. The decision should come from the Supreme Court. The erstwhile Travancore royal family has also approached the SC against publicising the details of the assets at the Temple,'' Mr Chandy said, replying a question in this regard while briefing cabinet decisions here. The cabinet received a detailed report on the new development and the security of the temple, he added.
The treasure troves would be kept in the temple itself as demanded by various Hindu organisations, considering it as the symbol of pride, culture and archeological marvel of the state, he said.
''It is the responsibility of the state to provide security for the temple for which all the expenditure will be met by the government,'' he said.
The present temperorary security system provided to the temple could be a permanent system if the Supreme Court suggested, he said.
However, the state would inform its stand on the issue to the SC through the committee appointd by the SC to conduct the inventoring of the treasure troves in the temple, he added.
A permanent security system would be provided after receiving a consent from the Supreme Court only, he clarified.
The security would be provided without making any inconvenience to pilgrims and customs of the temple.
Meanwhile, palace sources said the Supreme Court would take up a petition today, filed by royal family member Moolam Thirunal Ramavarma, who also wants the family to be a party in the case.
