Kozhikode : The Shiv Sena (SS) in Kerala today said it would oppose strongly any move to take over invaluable treasure unearthed from Sree Padmanbhaswami Temple in Thiruvanthapuram recently.Talking to reporters here, SS High Powered Committee Member Peringamala Aji and others said a concerted effort was on to shift the trove to museums under the government which would be opposed at any cost.
Also raising strong opposition against demand by certain Hindu organisations to distribute the property among Hindus, they said the treasures kept in the ''kallaras'' (safe vaults) were gifted by members of royal families to the ''Lord'' during the last couple of centuries and hence, were the sole property of the Temple.
Referring to Advocate Sunderajan who had alleged misappropriation of the temple property by erstwhile ruler of Travancore Royal Family Sri Uthradam Tirunal Mathadanvarma, they said the former owed an apology to the latter as the ''divine property'' was found intact as per the inventory prepared at the behest of the Apex Court.
The SS would convene a meeting of devotees, temple trustees and religious heads, among others, to deliberate on future course of action in connection with the protection of the temple, they added.
