Alappuzha: C Vidhyadharan from Majula Bhavan Thondankulangara, who became famous through sale of state lotteries, passed away here on Monday. He was 78. Vidhyadharan was a prominent figure behind the Kerala lottery by making the sales through government officials. He began lottery agency in the name of Manjula bakery and sold the tickets by appointing sub agents in all parts of Kerala from 1967.Many first prizes, including the Onam bumper in 2010, were sold through his agency. Vidhyadharan, who used to sell up to 7 lakh tickets, was felicitated by the government number of times for selling highest number of tickets by giving him ambassador car, Enfield bike and a TV. When other state lotteries ruled the sector, he confined himself by selling the lottery from his own bakery. His wife is Gomathi and children Aleena Rani, Tensing and Manjula.
