Kozhikode: Renowned radio drama artiste Rajam K Nair, has died after a brief illness, family sources said here today.Rajam, who passed away last night, was 75. She had joined the Kozhikode Radio station in 1964 artist as a drama voice
artist. She was a prominent figure in that field for over 30 years before retiring from service in 1997 as an 'A Grade
Artist'.
In 1988 she was bestowed with the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award.
Rajam rendered her voice for various radio programmes including 'Balaloka', 'Sisulokam', 'Vanitharangam' and news
reading.
She also directed and wrote scripts for a few dramas including 'Manaswani', 'Thapaswani' and 'Sanyasini'.
The artiste had also acted in a Malayalam film, 'Kanakambharangal', and in a few television serials.
She is survived by two sons. The funeral will be held today afternoon at Mavoor Road burial ground. PTI
