Nedumbassery: Due to heavy rush of travelers to the Gulf, airfare rates also witnessed a sharp increase. Air India Express, which is comparatively low-priced too, also raised the fares.For traveling to UAE on September 1, the fare is Rs 17,000-Rs 20,000. Generally this is only Rs 6000. For flights including Emirates, tickets are not available till September 12.
The rush hour is due to reopening of schools in Gulf after holidays. Moreover, those who come to celebrate Id-ul-fitr and Onam would return by mid-September.
