AIIMS docs closely monitoring Amar’s health condition

Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh, arrested for his alleged involvement in the cash-for-vote scam, was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday night after a rise in creatinine level in his body.

Doctors attending to him at the private ward of AIIMS said that several tests were being conducted on the veteran politician and a clear picture about his health will be available on Wednesday, following which a decision will be taken whether he will remain at the hospital or be sent back to Tihar Jail, where he is under judicial custody.

Meanwhile, an order on the bail plea of Amar Singh will be passed on Thursday, while the AIIMS and Tihar authorities will submit Singh’s current health status on Wednesday.

A team of doctors from GB Pant Hospital and LNJP Hospital had examined Singh on Sunday who then referred him to AIIMS on Monday after they found that creatinine level in his body was more than normal. Amar Singh is admitted in ward no 218 of New Private Ward at AIIMS. As per Amar Singh’s medical record sheet issued by Central Jail on September 9, he complained of vomitting, which was caused due to headache. It also mentioned that there were no past records of abdomen pain, jaundice, or abdomen distension. He was advised neurology consultation for headache and cardiology consultation for hypertension.

A team of doctors comprising gastroenterologists, nephrologists and cardiologists, examined 55-year-old Singh on Sunday and Monday and submitted their report on Monday. Nephrologist Dr Sanjay Gupta is attending to Amar Singh in AIIMS. Singh’s medical bulletin was released on Tuesday afternoon.

Medical Superintendent of AIIMS, YK Gupta, said, “We have constituted an expert panel of doctors consisting of nephrologists and cardiologists to look after Singh’s health. They are attending to him and the situation will be more clear by Wednesday.”

Meanwhile, Amar Singh’s well-wishers have already started flocking to the hospital to wish him speedy recovery. Bollywood actors and politicians visited Singh on his first day in AIIMS. Actress and politician Jaya Prada came to meet Amar Singh in AIIMS on Tuesday. Sanjay Dutt was also expected to come to AIIMS, but he could not turn up due to unknown reasons. Sources said that he is expected to come on Wednesday. Member of Parliament from Jaunpur, Dhananjay Singh, MLA from Bihar Dadan Pahalwan, advocate Asgar Khan, Arvind Singh also came to meet Singh.
