Latest News from India - Student dies in freak mishap

Thripunithura: While alighting from the school bus, the uniform of a girl student got trapped on the door of the bus and the girl was killed falling from the bus. The bus driver, unaware of the incident, moved the bus forward thereby dragging the girl to a distance. The incident occurred when her brother and grandfather were standing right on the spot, in front of their house.The deceased is Sandhra Babu, 11, daughter of Sabu M Varkey, from Mamala. She was a 6th standard student at Mattakkuzhi Hagiya Sofiya Public school. The incident occurred at 12.30 pm on Friday. Her brother Joyal also alighted from the bus and her grandfather was waiting to pick them. Though she was admitted to a private hospital, her life could not be saved.

She was returning after onam examination. When she alighted her uniform got trapped between the door hinges and the helper of the bus closed the door. Her father is working at a dental clinic and her mother Biji is a nurse at Devi Hospital.
