Kottayam: The Nair Service Society (NSS) today came down heavily on the Kerala government for selecting majority of the members of the newly-formed syndicate of the Calicut University from a particular minority community.In a statement here, NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair charged that out of the 14 members eight were from the particular community.
Further the pro-chancellor, vice-chancellor and registrar of the university were also from the same community.
'It was against the secular concept of the nation. It could not be justified. Such actions would destabilise the communal equilibrium of the nation,' he alleged.
Such action befooling the electorate was unbecoming of a democratic government, he said
