Putting speculations to rest, the UP Government on Saturday appointed Brij Lal as the new Director General of Police.
A 1977 batch IPS officer, Brij Lal, who was Special Director General (Crime, Law and Order), was promoted to the rank of Director General in a meeting of Departmental Promotional Committee (DPC) on Friday.
In his maiden press conference after assuming the charge of DGP on Saturday, Brij Lal said there was no alternative to hard work and an honest approach.
“My aim will be to strengthen the rule of law in the State. Notorious criminals will be dealt with an iron hand," he said.
