The IAF will deploy two MI-17 helicopters in anti-Naxal operations. These two helicopters will be stationed at Ranchi, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne said here on Monday.
He said these helicopters were recently deployed in Ranchi following a request by the Home Ministry.
At present, the IAF has deployed four MI-17s besides these two in Chhattisgarh region. These four machines have done “fair amount of flying” and are used for evacuation of casualties and maintaining logistical support for the para-military forces and State police, Browne said.
