Kannur : District Congress Committee (DCC) President P Ramakrishnan today lashed out at Congress M P K Sudhakaran, alleging he was leading a rival group against him, Addressing a press conference here, Mr Ramakrishnan, alleged, without directly mentioning Sudhakaran's name, the latter had distorted the history of the Congress party in Kannur district while speaking at a meeting in Payannur Gandhi Park on October 4, in connection with 'Gandhi Jayanthi' celebrations.Mr Ramakrishnan charged that Mr Sudhakaran was ignorant about the party's struggle against CPI(M) in the district and has been misleading the Congress workers especially Youth Congress by trying to create an impression that he was the only leader responsible for the survival of the Congress Party at Kannur.
In that meeting, Mr Sudhakaran had also allegedly said the Congress party had no workers and there was no worker to sit even in the election booth during the tenure of N Ramakrishnan, the past DCC President, during the 70s and 80s, he alleged.
'It was his efforts that revived the party, Mr Sudhakaran had claimed,' Mr Ramakrishnan alleged.
Mr Ramakrishnan pointed out that Congress had won Assembly seats and Parliamentary seats at that time also and this was forgotten by Mr Sudhakaran, he alleged.
