The Chandigarh MMS scandal took a new turn on Thursday when one of the girls, accused of making an MMS of another girl after beating her and removing her clothes, was attacked by two motorcycle borne men in Baltana area of Zirakpur, just outside the municipal limits of the city.
Madhu (name changed) was on her Activa when the two men attacked her with a sharp weapon on her face. She is now battling for her life at PGIMER in Chandigarh.
On September 26, Madhu along with three other girls had beaten up 19-year-old Neha (name changed), pushed her first into a Maruti car and snatched her mobile phone and money. They then stripped her and recorded video footage of her being exposed in the middle of the road and circulated it amongst the people.
The trio reportedly met at a discotheque in Chandigarh around 2 pm and committed the crime behind a hotel in Sector 4 area of Panchkula. Following the incident, Neha gave a written complaint to the police but later withdrew it under family pressure.
But the case acquired a dramatic turn on Thursday when the prime suspect, Madhu, was brutally attacked in Baltana. In her statement to the police, she said that she on her way to the market to get her phone recharged when two motorcycle-borne men came and attacked her with a sharp weapon which left severe injuries on her face.
The police said that she was taken to Sector 16 hospital of the city where duty doctors referred her to PGIMER in Chandigarh given the severity of her injuries. Cops are suspecting that attackers were known to Neha and wanted to exact revenge.
Zirakpur Police Station SHO Inspector Yogi Raj said: “In her statement, Madhu informed us that after she was attacked by motorcycle-borne men, they had called up Neha to inform that they had done what she told them to do. No one saw the motorcycle number of the accused but we have started investigations to nab them. A case will be registered and further investigations are on.”
Meanwhile, the role of the three girls who had thrashed Neha and stripped her was being investigated by the police and in their statements; they accepted that they had assaulted Neha. They alleged that Neha used to give their addresses to unknown men to create ruckus and hence wanted to teach Neha a lesson.
Till the time this report was filed, Madhu was admitted at PGIMER in Chandigarh and was under treatment in emergency for the severe injuries on her face. The police have started their investigations to trace the two accused men to solve the mystery behind the attack and the MMS scandal.
