Kottayam: Kerala government has sanctioned Rs 63.5 crore for repair and maintenance of 17 roads leading to Sabarimala in view of the forthcoming pilgrimage season, Minister for Devaswom and Transport V S Sivakumar has said.Speaking at a high level meeting to review arrangements during the pilgrimage season, beginning from the middle of
November, at Erumeli yesterday, Sivakumar said the government would follow the safety manual, prepared for Sabarimala, due
to increasing incidence of accidents in earlier years.

The minister said the government will follow the directives of Justice Hariharan Nair Commission which inquired into the stampede at nearby Pulumedu that claimed the lives of 104 Sabarimala pilgrims on January 15.
