Jharkhand would take strict measures against poaching of Siberian birds which are expected to start arriving from November to spend the winter in various lakes of the State, said, State Tourism Minister Bimla Pradhan on Sunday. “We will take steps to protect the migratory birds. A strict vigil will be kept against poaching,” she said.
The measures would be taken in Dumka, Hazaribagh, Sahebganj and other places of the State where the birds will start arriving from next month.
“We will also take suitable measures to attract tourists to these spots,” she said.
Favourable weather, besides availability of food attracts migratory birds of various species to these lakes between November and February. In continuation of the State’s attempts to increase tourist inflow, the Minister stated that a proposal too has been made to set up a tourist resort near Chandil dam near Jamshedpur.
