    Govt urges manufacturers to comply to prescribed standards and regulations

    Government on Friday urged all manufacturers and exporters to comply fully to the prescribed standards and regulations so that the international consumers and community have confidence in Indian manufactured goods and products.

    Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution KV Thomas while delivering his inaugural address at “World Standards Day” by Bureau of Indian Standards on Friday said: “We have a high level of expectation that any gadget or device will work the way we imagine them to work. International Standards give us this confidence globally.

    On this occasion, Thomas released Standards —IS/ISO :50001:2011 - Energy Management System Requirements with Guidance for use.

    In his special address, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs Rajiv Agarwal said that in today’s era of globalization and rapid development of information and communication technologies, international standards connect people all over the world and are key to creating confidence globally.

    He further added that Standardization provides benefits to manufacturers, consumers and service providers alike. Countries across the world are benefited by the result of standardization in various ways, such as environmental protection, sustainable development, safety of products, services, homes and work places.
