    Markets expect business of over Rs 100 crore on Dhanteras

    Markets in the State capital are expecting a business of over `100 crore on Dhanteras. The business community expects a whopping business of more than `100 crore in jewellery, utensils, electronics-home appliances, immovable assets, vehicles and others in the city. People have already booked their items in advance, to shop on the auspicious day.

    According to a survey, the expected estimated sale of different items is — gold-silver and diamond ornaments worth `25 crore: property worth `30 crore: total 800 four-wheelers worth `20 crore: 1,500 two-wheelers worth Rs 6 crore: electronics and home appliances worth `25 crore and utensils and other gift items of `5 crore.

    A businessman dealing with utensils, Kishore Tejwani said, "This Diwali utensils and other gift items of `5 crore are expected to be sold."

    "People have expressed a great interest in buying gold and silver ornaments," told an office bearer of Sarafa Market Association.

    Besides, a huge crowd was observed in Chowk Bazar, Kasera Gali, cloth market and grocery market in old city. The markets of old city are known for doing good business in gold, silver, utensils and cloths.

    People have started moving towards Chowk Bazar to buy silver coins for 'Laxmi puja'. Since, the Chowk Bazar has been declared no-vehicle zone, the residents are feeling comfortable.

    It has been noticed that people are much interested in buying crockery for gift purpose.

    Various companies have decorated their crockery products with one gram gold polish. Lemon, tea and dinner sets are available in the range of `4,000 to `20,000. Heavy rush of customers was noticed in utensils market to purchase these products.

    Gold polished utensils are especially brought to the State capital from different parts of the country. Silver polished crockery sets are also available in market. Businessmen informed that people like these items due to its economic price.

    A distributor Ashok Singhai from Kasera Gali said, "Earlier, people used to purchase gold polished silver utensils on order. Now, this trend is being directly launched in the market. People like this concept."

    A customer Geeta Chandani said, "To purchase utensils on Dhanteras is considered to be auspicious. These gold polished utensils are very beautiful. The trend of such utensils would continue in the market,"

    On the demand of gold polished silver utensils, businessmen of Kabadkhana, Kasera Gali and Loha Bazar have displayed gold polished utensils in their shops.

    Such utensils are also decorated with meenakari and cutwork and are available in the rage of `12,000 to `25,000.

    Another distributor Imran Siddiqui of Marwari Road said, "Gold polished crockery is very common among the elite class customers.

    Around 10 to 12 sets have already been sold. Silver polished crockery is also in demand."
