The Energy department has made large-scale arrangements for ensuring smooth power supply on the occasion of Diwali. The power distribution companies have assessed that the power demand on October 26 will be 8,600 MW for which all the preparations have been made. If any fault occurs on Diwali day, it will be repaired without shutting down the line. Contingents for repairs have also been constituted, who will remain deployed 24-hours. Under these efforts, power banking, short-term power purchase and drawl from Central Grid are being arranged.
Under the strategy, chairman and managing director of transmission will remain present at Loan Training Centre during the peak demand period for keeping an eye on the situation. Secretary Energy and Chairman of Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board Mohammad Suleiman called a high-level meeting for arrangements of smooth supply of power in the entire State on Diwali festival and gave necessary instructions to ensure supply during peak demand period on the day of Diwali.
It may be mentioned that due to Diwali, industrial load is likely to be less. Besides, Rabi season load will also be relatively less, but domestic power demand will be highest. Large-scale arrangements have been made for it.
The power distribution companies have estimated that power demand will be 7,300 MW on October 24, 25 and 27. Efforts will be undertaken to supply maximum power during peak hours on these dates. The Energy department has also made necessary arrangements for this.
The maintenance work of all the high-tension power lines has been completed by October 15. Besides, maintenance work of ultra high tension lines has also been completed. Sanjay Gandhi and Satpura thermal power plants’ of 210 MW units, which were closed for annual maintenance, will be made critical by October 23 and 26 respectively.
The Central Grid units, which were closed due to shortage of coal, have also been made critical.
