    Archana Chitnis visits Gwalior

    To gear up the educational officers for observing Pratibha Parv (talent festival) which is to be held on November 2, School Education Minister Archana Chitnis was here in Gwalior on Sunday.

    After coming here, Chitnis met education department officers and take stock of the situation, she also asked the officers that how many children were participating in Pratibha Parva and whether a list has been prepared, as how many representatives have been included in the school.

    The Minister came to Gwalior to participate in the employees’ conference. She held talks with BJP leaders and education officers. As soon as the education officers reached Circuit House, Chitnis asked them that how many children have been admitted in private schools under Right To Education (RTE) Act and whether the studies of the children have been evaluated.

    The district education officer said more than 20 per cent children have been admitted to private schools. About Mid-Day Meal, he said Mid-Day Meal is checked time-to-time and the institutions distributing Mid-Day Meals have been ordered that any carelessness in the distribution of meals would be dealt strictly. The standard of meal has been improved and no complaint has been received so far. The Mid-Day Meal is distributed in groups.

    Chitnis expressed anger over non-availability of adequate electricity and water supply in the schools. She said arrangements for power and water should be made in prescribed time so that children do not face any problems.

    Asked about the preparations for Pratibha Parv, Joint Director of Education department KK Dwivedi said cloths for uniform have been distributed to the schoolchildren and the remaining cloths would be distributed from schools.

    Earlier, the teachers’ association from Government-aided school submitted a six-point memorandum to the Minister, regarding their long-pending demands.
