The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Madhya Pradesh Police on Sunday raided the residence of the an engineer of Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPSEB) and recovered documents of property worth over `15 crore. The bank lockers of the engineer are yet to be scanned by the EOW.
The raid was conducted in the morning at Brijesh Rai’s residence at Minal residency.
Brijesh is posted at Rajgarh and complaints of anomalies and embezzlements were received against him.
“Till now, documents of properties worth over `15 crores including a couple of huge bungalow in a posh colony, land and acres farmlands near Bhopal were recovered from his possession,” SP EOW Arvind Saxena said, while talking to The Pioneer.
Details of 12 plots, one each in various places near to the State capital were also found, besides `23,000 cash were also recovered from the house. Saxena said that the total assets which came on fore is about `15 crore and the probe is going on.
“We have complaints about anomalies and financial swindling of the engineer and therefore the raids were conducted,” he added. He further said that the properties were registered in the name of engineer’s son and his wife.
“The bank lockers of the engineer are yet to be scanned,” he added. The scanning of the documents of the land plots, which was recovered from the engineer’s house, is going on and the team will conduct further raids in this regard on Monday. EOW sources said, seized documents pertained to investment in more than a dozen immovable properties, including agricultural land. Besides, more than 200 gm gold was seized.
