Coffee table book Ek Prarthana was formally released on Saturday at Hotel Jehanuma Palace by noted lyricist Gulzar. MP Tourism Commissioner Pankaj Raag was the special guest on the occasion.
Bhopal Commissioner Manoj Shrivastava, Income Tax Commissioner Vinod Anand, Culture Director Shriram Tiwari, Avinash from Aquarius, Zishan Akbar Latif; eminent photographer from Mumbai was also present to grace the occasion.
Senior editor and writer Rajkumar Keswani described Arushi activities, Ek Prarthana and its relation with Gulzar. He said that Gulzar supported Arushi when it was just at its infant stage.
Gulzar said, "I am not a visitor or a guest at Arushi and I should not be treated that way. I am here as Arushi is my home. I want you all to be my guests."
He further said that these children are not to be treated as helpless or dependent. The posters developed by Arushi bring smile on our faces. And this has become possible with the help of Focus Uncle (Zishan Akbar Latif). He said that new volunteers joining in every new initiative taken by Arushi.
Pankaj Raag, Shriram Tiwari and Manoj Shrivastava also expressed their views on Arushi activities. Poster exhibition of the posters on disability developed by Arushi was also organized during the release function. All the distinguished guests appreciated the posters very much.
This coffee table book is developed in order to generate awareness on disability related issues. The book comprises 50 posters on different aspects of disabilities. Gulzar has been associated with the idea right from its inception and has also provided captions for all the posters.
