Irregular water supply leaves locals in lurch

The residents of different localities in the old city area, where water is supplied from the Idgah Hills filtration plant, faced problems as the supply was with less pressure on Friday.

Official sources said that the low pressure supply was due to the leakage in the pipeline that supplies raw water to the filter plant. The leakage was repaired in the afternoon, but the low pressure supply continued even in the evening.

Sources claimed that the leakage was identified near Karbala before Diwali, but due to the festival it was not repaired as it would have caused more problems to the citizens. The repair work that started in the morning on Thursday was completed in the evening, but water supply was still irregular because the overhead tanks could not be filled in the night.

The areas where the water supply remained affected on Friday were- Idgah hills, Ridge road, Laxmi Niwas road, PNB Colony, Bank Colony, Nilkanth Colony, Prabhu Nagar, Maulana Azad Colony, Ramanand Nagar, Lalghati, Nevri Mandir slum area, BDA Colony, Bright Colony, Sunrise Colony, Judge Colony, Doctor Colony, Ram Nagar, Sanjay Nagar slum area, Mother India slum area, Ameer Ganj, Barah Mahal, Pari Bazar, Niyamatpura, 56 quarter police line Shahjahanabad, Kumharpura, Regiment road, Model ground, Shahjahanabad police station road, Kabeetpura, Sharma Colony, Ahirpura, Majdoor Nagar, Islami Gate Road, Berasia Road and Karbala Road. Other affected areas were- Shaheed Nagar, Ashok Colony, Noor Mahal, Somwara and Fatehgarh.

However, in these affected areas, the Corporation supplied water through its own resources like water tanks. Municipal Corporation expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the residents and requested them to extend support.
