Lt General S K Singh will take over as the new Vice Chief of Army Staff on Tuesday after the present incumbent Lt General A S Lamba retired on Monday after 40 years of service.
Singh commanded a brigade in Siachen Glacier, an infantry division on Line of Control(LOC), a corps in high altitude in Jammu and Kashmir and was chief of South Western Command before assuming the new responsibility. He will have more than two years as Vice Chief of Army Staff.
