A division bench of Calcutta High Court on Monday admitted the appeal filed before it by the Tata Motors challenging the Single Bench order of Justice Indra Prasanna Mukherjee validating the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011.
The Tatas challenged the order on grounds of the constitutionality of the Act. The new Singur Act passed by the Trinamool Government had vested the land leased to the company by the earlier Left Front Government for construction of a plant to manufacture Nano car. Hearing is likely to be started from Tuesday, the Tata counsel said.
