    Cops issue advisory for commuters

    Delhi Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory on the occasion of Chhath Puja celebrations advising commuters to avoid using major roads leading to puja sites. A massive turnout of devotees is expected on banks of Yamuna river and other water bodies across the Capital on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

    Movement of commercial vehicles would be restricted on major arterial roads leading to the puja sites. Lakhs of devotees are expected to gather at river banks and other water bodies to offer prayers before the setting sun on Tuesday and before the rising sun on Wednesday.

    Among scores of major puja sites across the capital, some have been identified as Kudasia and Geeta Ghat, Pantoon Pul Geeta Colony Pusta, Rainy Well, Shakarpur and IP Estate, ITO Yamuna River, Bhairon Marg Pantoon Bridge, Kalindi Kunj, Kondli Canal New Ashok Nagar 4-A DDA Park, PS Kalkaji, Mahavir Enclave Telephone Exchange and Haiderpur Canal Iron Bridge and B-Block Shalimar Bagh to Prem Bari Pul, Ring Road.

    Satyendra Garg, Joint Commissioner of Police, traffic, said, “Normal flow of traffic will be affected from the afternoon of November 1 and in the morning of November 2. Commuters are advised to avoid the roads adjoining to Chhath Puja sites.”
