    F1 success: Officials pat themselves

With the successful completion of the mega international Formula One event in Noida, the UP officials have started patting themselves for the feat. The officers claimed that to host the event without any glitches, the Noida and Greater Noida administration went to several villages near the Formula one track to settle local problems regarding land acquisition so that the farmers do not create any nuisance during the race.

Senior Superintendent of police, Jyoti Narayan, Noida, told The Pioneer on Monday, “Noida officials with special district force worked together to make this event go efficiently. While laying out the security plan, we interestingly deployed officers in every section to avoid any kind of mishap.”

“We went to several villages to talk to farmers and made them understand the importance of formula one race so that they do not create any trouble during the race. This discussion really helped us in creating harmony during the race,” Narayan added. Superintendent of police (City), Anant Dev, Noida, said, “The event played out effortlessly and we are really appreciative of the way authorities and police personnel performed during and after the event. We not only appreciate our own efforts, but the Formula One Management (FOM) had their private security guards. They worked efficiently with collaboration of our team to make this event a big success.”

The FOM, which is vested with the task of organising 20-odd races in a season, showed their successful bunch of top class professionals after the race was over. The caravan winded up everything in hours after the race. For them, it is no mean job to shift some 600 tonnes of cargo, comprising sophisticated equipment that arrived a week before Sunday’s race.

Incredibly, it was all neatly packed within five hours after the show, ready to fly to the next port of call of the F1 circuit, Abu Dhabi. It not only controlled the 60-lap race, but it also helped the security officials and local media in putting things together. Everything is controlled by F1 officials and they are thorough professionals. FOM and FIA had their own rules and regulations for the race.

The professionalism shown by the FOM and other teams was best summed up at night when they had almost packed everything that was in the team garage five hours after Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel became the first one to win the race.
