BJP demands CAG probe into oil cos’ deficit

Expressing its concern over the increasing price of petrol and other related products, the BJP doubted the claim of oil companies about their deficit and demanded CAG probe into it. Terming Chief Minister Mayawati as fountainhead of corruption, the BJP has asked her to fulfil her poll promise of sending SP supremo and the then chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to jail.

Moving ahead with the Jan Swabhiman Yatra, the former BJP chief of the party Rajnath Singh and national vice-president of the party Kalraj Mishra attacked both Centre and State at different places and urged the people to teach a lesson to the Congress, BSP and the SP at the opportune moment.

Addressing a public meeting in Khaleelabad, Rajnath Singh ridiculed the statement of the Prime Minister that country was getting prosperous and this was the reason why the prices were going up. “No one can understand what the economist Prime Minister is trying to establish while the inflation has gone beyond 12 per cent,” he said.

The former BJP chief said that the claim of oil companies about their deficit does not seem very convincing. “I demand that balance sheets of the oil companies must be inquired by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India,” he said. “It seems that Congress and the Prime Minister are more concerned with the interest of oil companies rather that the suffering people of the country,” Singh added. He said that truth was that people of the country lately have reduced the expenditure on their food due to uncontrollable price rises.

Singh flayed the statement of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that his Pakistani counterpart Yusuf Raza Gilani was peace ambassador.
