    Maoist bandh today, high alert in Kolhan

    A high alert has been put in the Naxal-affected districts of Kolhan division in view of the bandh call given by the Maoists in protest against police atrocities. The banned outfit of CPI (Maoist) has given the call for Jharkhand starting midnight.

    The bandh has been called by the Jharkhand regional committee of CPI(Maoist) rebels to protest the killing of top Naxal leader Kishanji in neighbouring West Bengal.

    Police said apart from ensuring deployment of addition police and paramilitary forces, the combing operations and patrolling had been intensified to check the possibility of entry of Maoists from neighbouring States.
