    Centurion soldier passes away

    A 105-year-old foot soldier in the Army of Maharaja Hari Singh, the last Dogra ruler of the erstwhile State of Jammu & Kashmir, Subedar Dharam Singh Jamwal, was given a warm send-off on the banks of Devak river near Vijaypur in Samba district on Saturday.

    Survived by one son and four daughters, the centurion breathed his last on Friday after a brief illness. During his service career, he participated in many theatres of war and also defended the borders at the time of Kashmir invasion by invaders supported by the Pakistani Army.
