‘Govt not to concede to BJP debate demand ’
With the Opposition embarrassing the ruling regime on FDI in multi-brand retail, UID and foreign investment in Insurance sector and Parliament functioning hit hard due to the frequent disruptions, the Government on Friday indicated it would not concede to BJP’s demand for a discussion on Black Money. Instead, the Government will press for the Lokpal Bill.

"The primary function of Parliament is to take up and clear the legislative business of the Government. Taking up the legislative business is the top priority," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said on Friday after a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee.

He was responding to the query whether the Adjournment Motion on the Black Money as being pushed by BJP following veteran leader LK Advani's country wide Rath Yatra will come up for discussion in Parliament next week.

He said that the important legislative business for which the government will press for during the session is the Lokpal Bill. It will come up in the Lok Sabha on December 19 after the Cabinet considers the amendments suggested by the Parliamentary Standing Committee which submitted its report in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.
