Son hired killers to bump off dad over property dispute, 2 arrested
Angry over being denied inheritance in the property, a 42-year-old man hatched a plot to eliminate his 70-year-old father, Dharam Singh. He hired two killers for this sinister purpose and asked the killers to ensure that his father was not left alive.

The septuagenarian was stabbed 27 times by the hired killers. Dharam Singh who had retired from Indian Air Force had divested his son Milan Kumar from his Vasant Kunj property and that infuriated Milan. South district police cracked the mystery behind the murder after it arrested Deepak Dulal (23) and Satyawan (23), the two accused persons who were given a contract by Milan to bump off his father. Interestingly Milan was earlier arrested on the charges of rape too.

Dharam Singh was found murdered at his Masoodpur residence in the Vasant Kunj area on November 27. Post-mortem report mentioned 27 stab wounds and marks on his neck too. Interestingly, it was Milan who called up PCR to inform the police about the murder. His movements were suspected from the day of the murder itself. He tried to mislead the police by concocting stories. His demeanor betrayed that he was sad over losing his father. The investigating officer suspected him and investigated his movements before and after the murder. His involvement in the murder was confirmed after police studied his call details. Meanwhile, the neighbours too told the police that the relationship between Dharam and his son Milan were sour and there were frequent quarrels between them over property issues.

Police traced a property will signed by Dharam Singh in the house. The will had no mention about Milan. Following this, police questioned Milan again and this time he broke down and confessed of hatching a plan to kill his father.

Chhaya Sharma, DCP, South, said, “Dharam Singh was the sole bread earner in the family. He owned three shops on Masoodpur Road, all of which had been given on rent. Milan was jobless and the entire expenses of the family were borne by Singh alone. Singh would often repudiate Milan. Their relationship further soured over property dispute.”

Singh would often scold Milan and threatened him that he would not name anything in his will. Singh is said to have made a property will without Milan's knowledge. When Milan learnt about this, he had lodged a complaint against Singh saying his father had excluded him from his property. Milan said he wanted to get rid of his father.

Few months back, Milan had met Deepak at a function. He learnt that Deepak had earlier committed a murder. Finding him as a right person, Milan offered Deepak a proposal to kill his father. He offered him the ownership of one of the three shops. Deepak agreed and involved his associate, Satyawan, into this, DCP said. As per the plan, Milan introduced Deepak to his father. Deepak and Satyawan reached Milan's house on the night of November 26. After Singh went to bed Satyawan held Singh's mouth and Deepak stabbed him.
