A person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a blast at a transformer factory in Govindpura under Ashoka Garden police station area in the wee hours of Saturday.
The police said that the blast occurred at around 3 am in Satyam (Fab) Industries and Govind Narayan (31) died on the spot.
The factory is situated in Govindpura industrial area. The company manufactures transformers and other parts.
Police maintained that two other persons injured in the incident have been identified as Mukesh Shakya and Ravind Tiwari. They have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC and started investigation.
CSP Samar Verma, while talking to The Pioneer, said that the Industries Department has been asked to submit a report regarding the incident under the provisions of Company Act. On the basis of the report, police would decide its next course of action. Verma said that there was some leakage in a tank of the factory and the deceased tried to repair the leakage, when one of the transformers exploded, which caused his death.
"The two other injured were standing near the deceased and sustained serious injuries. Their condition is said to serious," he added.
