    ‘State road construction work must be completed within time limit’
    Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has instructed that construction and repair works of roads in the State must invariably be completed within the time-limit. He also instructed to give special attention to quality in these works as per the State Government's wish.

    Strict action will be taken if this work is found not up to the mark. Chief Minister Chouhan was reviewing the works of construction and repairs of roads in Madhya Pradesh through videoconferencing here on Saturday. He solicited district-wise information at the videoconferencing.

    During the videoconferencing, Chouhan said that Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers of departments will be directly responsible for the quality of road-related works. He said that there will be zero-tolerance policy against corruption. Strict action will be taken if any complaint is received in this connection. He said that the State Government has made available adequate funds for repair of roads.

    Departmental officers' performance will be assessed every month. Other departments should cooperate with Public Works Department in work related to construction of roads. Necessary permissions should be made available without delay. The department staff must undertake constant efforts to ensure that roads remain in good condition.

    The Chief Minister said that this year roads had suffered widespread damage due to excessive rains in the State. A time-bound schedule has been prepared to repair the roads and funds have been made available to the department in this connection. Staff of Public Works Department should also be pressed into service for accomplishment of these works. He said that after repair, work for renovation of roads should be taken up. If any problem arises in the work then it should be disposed of timely. Consultants should be appointed for inspection of work costing over `5 crore under the department.

    Time-limit for disposal of tenders should be strictly adhered to. The PIU constituted for building construction should expedite the work.

    The Asian Development Bank has lauded Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation for taking up road construction works. The bank has described the works undertaken by Madhya Pradesh as historic achievement.

    In an email to the State Government, ADB has congratulated Corporation's Managing Director Vivek Agrawal and its management, the bank said that a utilisation record has been created since the corporation has utilised $ 25 million in the very first year of the sanction of $ 200 million loan by the Asian Development Bank. In the message, the bank has also praised corporation's efforts for starting works of all the 15 contracts. Expressing happiness over these excellent efforts, the ADB management has described it as a record.
