Trader & cousin shot at, critical

Trader & cousin shot at, critical
A 50-year-old businessman and his cousin are battling for life after unknown persons opened fire at them in east Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar area on Tuesday night. Gulshan Narang and Rishu Narang (26) were returning home on a scooter around 8.30 pm and are now said to be critical.

Gulshan is a resident of Soorajmal Vihar and runs a readymade garments shop. A senior police official said, “Gulshan and Rishu were passing through Chand Mohalla when they were stopped by four to five persons. They allegedly opened fire on both. A bullet pierced Gulshan’s waist while one hit Rishu in his face. The assailants stabbed Gulshan with a sharp-edged weapon after firing at him.”

Locals found the two lying in a pool of blood and called the police. Both were rushed to Pushpanjali Hospital.

Police suspect personal enmity. “Preliminary investigations have revealed that no valuables were missing. Cash, jewellery items wore by the victims and other valuables like mobile phones have been found intact. This suggests that the attack was pre-meditated,” said a policeman. The official added that a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) IPC and Arms Act has been registered.
