    Tight bandobast for New Year eve
    On the eve of New Year celebrations, bars, night clubs and discotheques if found violating the norms guided by the district excise and taxation department may be challaned heavily and their licences may be cancelled by the district excise department in the millennium city Gurgaon. The Gurgaon Excise and Taxation Department has formed five mobile teams which will keep an eye on bars-pubs, night clubs, five star hotels, restaurant and malls in the city. The team will check the licences of the pubs- bars and restaurants.

    “We have constituted five mobile teams to keep an eye on 210 bars-pubs, including 20 officials. Each team has four inspectors, two assistants and two constables and one team will coordinate the officials on the ground. The major areas which will be under the attraction and surveillance of excise team are Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) road, Galleria market, DLF city and Sushant Lok sector-29, Gurgaon,” said Anoop Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Excise and Taxation Department, Gurgaon.

    The district excise department on Friday also awarded 50 licences for a day who can serve liquor within their premises. There are 310 liquor shops in Gurgaon and each shop’s licence will be checked by the district excise team. The Gurgaon bordering areas such as Palam Vihar to Manesar, Rajiv Chowk to Sohna road and Rajiv Chowk to Ambience mall, will be kept under surveillance of excise team in the city.

    The Gurgaon Police chief KK Sindhu said that the entire police force is available in district and has been instructed to remain more vigilant during the New Year eve as numbers of programme will be expected to be organised in the hotels, restaurants, clubs, shopping malls, etc in the city.
