Cops say man out of BPO job was mentally ill, drug addict
Shivanand Sunderiyal’s suicide mystery has deepened with the police investigation revealing that the person was mentally unstable. Police is examining his medical history to look for clues in the case. Police have dug out Shivanand’s past history that point out to his erratic and problematic behaviour. Police now say that Shivanand’s allegations in his suicide note that eight of his friends were involved in the rape of women of his family, is a serious charge. Nothing of the sort has been found so far that can substantiate his allegations.

According to police, Shivanad has inherited this mental ailment from his mother and he was also a drug addict. “No arrests can be made till we have evidence to prove the allegations. The deceased family members have denied any such occurences. The accused persons have been summoned for questioning. They have been also asked to be present before the Investigating Officer as and when they are required for further questioning. Arrests can be made only after all the eight accused persons are examined and the medical examinations of the women named by Shivanand are completed.”

A family member of Shivanand said, “On December 21, Shivanad had gone to drop three of his friends at Old Delhi Railway Station. The trio was going to Jaisalmer and insisted him to accompany them as one of their friends had backed out and they had a spare ticket. They convinced him that he need not worry about the car and asked him to call his brother to take his car back to home and to inform that he is going for the trip. Somehow, Shivanand agreed to go along with them. When he went to the station, he showed no signs of being disturbed. Why he resorted to this extreme step remains unexplained,” he said.

After getting alongwith his friends, we are not able to understand how he entered the RPF camp in Bundi in Rajasthan and got into an argument with the officials. He appeared calm before leaving for Jaisalmer, the family member added.

Police has registered a case under sections 376, 342 and 306 of Indian Panel Code on the basis of the suicide note recovered from the spot. Those named in the suicide note have been identified as Kishan alias Nainu, Shankar, Sandeep, Chotu, Sanjay, Mumtaz, Nitu and Mayank. They all were the friends of Shivanand. Noida police officials said the case is under investigation and further action will be initiated after all the forensic tests including the verification of the suicide note purportedly written by Shivanand before he committed suicide on Monday night.
