Bhuria seeks compensation for hailstorm-hit farmers
State Congress president Kantilal Bhuria demanded allocation of compensation to the hailstorm affected farmers in the State. Bhuria said in several districts of the State, hailstorm has harmed Rabi crops which were ready for harvesting. "Farmers are already suffering from fertilizers and electricity problems and are now facing this new problem. Congress party is with the affected farmers during their tough times," he said. Bhuria added that farmers in Bhopal, Gwalior, Sagar, Rewa and Jabalpur division are now in big trouble due to hailstorm. Wheat, gram, pea, pulses, coriander and mustard crops have to face heavy loss due to the inclement weather. In Jabalpur, Narsinghpur and Sagar, three centimetres of rainfall and in Umaria, Damoh, Guna and Gwalior, two centimetre of rainfall was recorded.
Bhuria said if assessment of loss of crops is not started immediately, then compensation will not be paid on time and assessment of crops lost will not be correct either. Congress demands that assessment survey work of loss of crops due to hailstorm should be given to revenue department of State, so that payment of compensation by the State Government can be initiated on time.
