BMC sub-engineer suspended over false inspection report

BMC sub-engineer suspended over false inspection report
The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration on Monday suspended sub-engineer NK Deharia of building permission department on the charge of submitting false spot inspection report.

BMC administration during investigation found that the false report caused a heavy financial loss to the BMC in compromise fund amount.

In the related case, a notice was issued to the illegal building owner Kishanlal Pahuja under section 307 (2) of the Municipal Corporation Act. In Daamkheda village, Pahuja submitted application seeking building permission of a two-storey building on 1400 square metre land on Khasra number 206/6.

Sub-engineer Deharia submitted the spot inspection report that no construction has been started on the land. But in reality 375 square metre was constructed on the ground floor and about 58 square metre was constructed on the first floor. In such illegal construction cases, compromise is carried out under Municipal Corporation Act 1956. In this case, building owner Pahuja was to be fined of compromise fund of about Rs 7 lakh but due to Deharia’s false report, the BMC had to bear financial loss.

Meanwhile, the anti-encroachment team of BMC removed encroachment like pavements, stairs constructed over the drains in the municipal corporation limit on Berasia road. From Bhopal Talkies to DIG Bungalow, encroachment on the footpaths like paan kiosks, counters, tea stalls were removed and seized.

Notably, the BMC is continuing its anti-encroachment campaign on the roads, footpaths and other public places of the State capital. During the campaign, the BMC team freed the road and drainage line from encroachments at the Nagar Nigam colony of the encroachment and vacated encroachment on footpaths and roads by the paan kiosks, counters and tea stalls. The BMC seized five truckloads of materials after removing the encroachments.
