    Now, Sanjiv Bhatt blames SIT

    Now, Sanjiv Bhatt blames SIT
Controversial suspended DIG Sanjiv Bhatt has now turned his guns towards the Special Investigation Team (SIT) before which he had made the startling allegation that Chief Minister Narendra Modi had asked the State police to ‘allow Hindus to vent their anger’ during the bandh called after the killing of 58 kar sewaks in the Sabarmati Express fire at Godhra on Feb 27, 2002.

Bhatt has shot off a letter to SIT chief RK Ragahvan on Friday alleging that the Supreme Court appointed agency is reluctant to examine key witnesses in the riot cases.

The SIT was intentionally disregarding important aspects of the complaint filed by Zakia Jafri, the widow of former MP Ehsan Jafri who was killed in the Gulbarg Society massacre, against the Chief Minister, Bhatt alleged in his letter to the SIT chief.

Bhatt also accused the apex court appointed SIT of “deliberate reluctance” to examine witnesses who would be able to provide crucial evidence about the meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence on Feb 27, 2002 where Modi is alleged to have issued the controversial instructions to the state cops.

The IPS officer, who is presently released on conditional bail in a case of threatening his former subordinate, said that he had given the SIT a list of key witnesses who would be able corroborate his presence at the Feb 27 meeting when the Chief Minister allegedly asked the cops to go soft on the rioters.

He also suggested to the SIT that it should shield its officers against all ‘allurements’ or ‘pressures’ from the Gujarat Government.
