Haryana for improving skills of gunmen
With a view of improving the skills of gunmen in handling the weapons, the Director General of Police (DGP) Haryana, Ranjeev Singh Dalal, has directed the district police authorities to organise ‘Firing Practice’ programme for at least one week at police lines with immediate effect.
A communiqué in this regard has recently been shot off to Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) of all police ranges and Superintendents of Police (SPs) of every district in the State from the DGP office.
The DGP in his communiqué has said “Keeping in view the prevailing security scenario, it has become imperative to impart special training to each gunmen posted at different level at district headquarter about use of various sorts of weapons so that they could handle weapons efficiently.”
It has been observed several times that most of the police personnel posted at district headquarter are not proficient in operating their weapons owing to lack of training programmes at regular interval. The policemen are required to be trained, so that they can use them properly at the time of action, said sources.
The DGP has also directed the IGPs, CPs and SPs to intensify their touring programmes to collect intelligence inputs regarding party feuds, old enmity, land disputes. etc so that preventive measures could accordingly be taken to ensure peace, safety and harmony in the society.
“The IGPs, CPs and SPs must chalk out their monthly ‘charter of function’ to control the crime of various sort in their area concerned as it will certainly turn out to be a concrete step to improve our performance at all the levels,” said the DGP, adding that the officers should also carry out audit of man power for the utilisation of them in best possible way.
The DGP has also asked to carry out special drives in a regular interval not only to get vital inputs regarding availability of illicit arms in the State but also to unearth the same after making all out efforts in this regard.
