BJP condemns Rahul’s remarks on Ram
Hitting out at Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on Lord Ram, the Bharatiya Janata Party dared him to speak against the god of any other religion.
The party also advised the Congress general secretary to understand the legacy of Lord Ram before speaking about him.
BJP general secretary and chief spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Rahul’s comment about Lord Ram deserved to be condemned. “During its eight-year rule, the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government has not taken a single step to construct Ram Mandir at Ayodhya and this shows its apathy towards Hindus,” Prasad said while addressing a press conference at the party’s State headquarters on Sunday.
The BJP leader pointed out that the UPA Government had filed an affidavit before the court, denying the existence of Lord Ram in the context of Ram Setu but had later withdrawn it under public pressure.
“The Congress is yet to tender an apology for hurting the sentiments of Hindus by denying the existence of Lord Ram,” Prasad said. Referring to Babu Singh Kushwaha’s admission in the BJP, Prasad said the former leader of Bahujan Samaj Party had joined the Bahujan Samaj Party to support the party which opposes the 4.5 per cent reservation given to Muslims from the 27 per cent quota of OBCs.
“Why are Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati silent on this issue when they claim to be well-wishers of OBCs?” Prasad asked. He said the BJP would make this issue its main poll plank during the Assembly election.
In reply to a question on Kushwaha, the BJP chief spokesman said: “Let the CBI continue its probe into the NRHM scam.”
He said the BJP was not in favour of shielding any guilty person but it was also well known that the Congress habitually misused CBI for political purposes.
“I want to ask why is the CBI not acting on the allegations made against Chief Minister Mayawati and her family members?” he asked.
