Is PC culpable? Ball in Judge Saini's court
All eyes will rest on the special CBI court trying the 2G scam case that will pronounce its judgment on a plea seeking summoning of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram as an accused in the case on Saturday.

The court's order will decide the fate of Chidambaram, who is battling the charges of allowing 2G Spectrum allocation in an arbitrary manner during his stint as the Union Finance Minister. With the Supreme Court empowering the trial court to decide the matter, the ball is now in the court of Special CBI judge OP Saini.

Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy has submitted before court that Chidambaram is equally culpable like former Telecom Minister A Raja as he also had a role in deciding the spectrum pricing and allowing telecom companies to off-load shares to foreign firms.

The court, on February 1, also halted for two days the ongoing day-to-day trial in the case for writing the much-awaited historical order on Swamy's plea against Chidambaram.

Swamy, had said the evidence brought on record by him before the special court prima facie establishes that Chidambaram was also culpable as Raja is in the case. The evidence, brought before the court, was sufficient to show that Chidambaram has prima facie committed offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act and other criminal laws, he said.

Swamy had earlier said, "It is being made clear that the trial court is fully seized of the matter. Now, the CBI could not add anything by way of an investigation. It is the best possible judgement. The country can be justifiably proud of Supreme Court.”

Swamy was allowed by the trial court on December 8 to lead the evidence on his plea seeking Chidambaram's prosecution. During his three-month-long legal battle in the Special Court, Swamy alleged that Chidambaram as Finance Minister 'colluded, consented and connived' with Raja in allotting telecom licences at throw away prices and facilitated the companies to off load the shares to MNCs at whopping prices.

Swamy also alleged that as Home Minister Chidambaram allowed entry of the foreign telecom companies despite objection by Intelligence Bureau and Security agencies and thus "violated national security concerns".
