Latest National News : SIMI body wakes Muslims up to woes of vote politics
SIMI-linked Popular Front of India (PFI) has urged the Muslims to remain vigilant against the vote bank politics of the political parties. The outfit has advised them to vote for those candidates who can serve the community better.
At the national general assembly of the outfit held recently in Malappuram district of Kerala, the PFI passed a resolution calling upon the voters of Uttar Pradesh and other States not to act as mere vote bank of political parties but vote for the candidates of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).
The second choice should be backing candidate of parties which seems comparatively more favourable to Muslim issues.
PFI is a suspect terror organisation and has recently shifted its headquarters to the national Capital and is trying to make forays into the political arena in north India. Its cadres had chopped off the hands of a Christian professor for allegedly hurting Muslims’ sentiments. Top brass of the Intelligence Bureau has warned against the outfit’s growth in political sphere due to its covert linkages with the banned Students Islamic Movement of India and training its cadres in assembly of IEDs and sharp-edged weapons.
The outfit has also expressed its anguish and concern at the failure of the Dalit and backward caste political parties to address the real issues that plague the Muslim minorities in the States.
“These parties have come into prominence or power, using caste-based identity politics and pursuing Muslims. But unfortunately they have failed to reform the system. They have followed the same path of traditional political parties and tried to keep the Muslims disunited and neglected. They also did not tolerate the emergence of real political power from within the Muslim community, the outfit said in a statement.
It further said, “Bahujan Samaj Party, (BSP), in Uttar Pradesh was no different in using the police or intelligence agencies to create fear and insecurity in the Muslim community by continuing police measures against Muslim activists and organisations.”
The outfit also exhorted that only the newly emerged SDPI and like-minded parties can articulate the problems like poverty, illiteracy and unemployment among the Muslims and provide them freedom from hunger and fear. The SDPI is a South Indian party that has fielded candidates in certain constituencies.
