Cong accuses BJP of politics on Nair row
The Congress on Monday criticised the Opposition BJP for bringing ISRO controversy into political arena and said that former ISRO chief G Madhavan Nair is free to approach the court if he felt that injustice has been done to him.

Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the Government has not taken any knee jerk reaction but has considered the issue at length before taking the decision about barring the space scientists from taking any Government job.

Moreover, Nair has full right to challenge the decision if he disagrees with it. But it is wrong to criticise such a decision without testing it in the court, he said.

He said that the report is in the public domain and all the reason behind the Government decision is in public domain. Singhvi said that the Government takes full responsibility for the decision and nobody has influenced it. Singhvi’s comment is significant as Nair has been charging space agency chief K Radhakrishnan for influencing the Government decision which he had termed as witch hunt.

The Congress also denied BJP and other parties’ charge of lack of governance due to which first Army chief VK Singh was forced to move the court on his age row and now eminent space scientists feel victimised and threatening to go to the court.

Such punitive conditions Government servants (barring them from taking up any Government assignment) has been happening in the past also and criticised the Opposition and media for politicising and sensationalising the matter, party leaders said.
