Clarify your stand on 2G scam or quit, Modi tells PM
Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to clarify his stand in Rs 1,76,000 crore 2G spectrum scam. Addressing a gathering after concluding his day-long ‘Sadbhavna’ fast at Bardoli in Surat district, Modi said the Prime Minister should quit if he cannot clarify his position on the 2G scam.
“Break your silence on the 2G spectrum scam or quit,” Modi declared at Bardoli, the historic town associated with many events during the freedom struggle.
The Chief Minister said that development is the sole medicine for resolving every problem in the country.
Modi said that Gujarat is the first State in the country where the Government fights every election on the issue of development, while others fight elections with “vote bank strategy”.
Warning his detractors, Modi declared that he would not tolerate maligning of Gujarat.” If you abuse me, I don’t care. But if you try to defame Gujarat, I will never tolerate it,” Modi declared.
The Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs 1,300 crore for overall development of Surat district. This would be in addition to Rs 2,100 crore Modi had announced for Surat city during his one-day fast there two months back.
At least 15,000 people from various parts of the district observed the day-long ‘Sadbhavna’ fast in solidarity with the Chief Minister.
