Historian, author Sharada Dwivedi passes away
Renowned urban historian and researcher Sharada Dwivedi, whose works on Mumbai are widely appreciated, passed away on Monday.
Sharada Dwivedi, who reportedly suffered brain hemorrhage, breathed her last before she was admitted to the Bombay Hospital. She was 69 and is survived by her husband and daughter.
An author of several books on the history and culture of Mumbai — including Bombay, the Cities Within, Dwivedi,was a member of Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee.
When the then US President Bill Clinton visited Mumbai, she gave an overview of Mumbai’s heritage to him. She had also accompanied the American President to the Dhobi Ghat, world’s biggest open-air-laundry.
Dwivedi’s last rites will be held on Tuesday.
