No action yet against guilty Rajasthan officials

No action yet against guilty Rajasthan officials

The Government is yet to initiate action against four officials despite their having been found guilty of allowing Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim to hold a religious gathering during his visit to Ajmer on September 30. Amin is also head of a Muslim sect and a considerable number of his followers live in border districts of Jodhpur, Barmer and Jaisalmer.

On September 30, he had landed in Ajmer to offer prayers at the Dargah of Khwaja Moinnudin Chisti, as per his official programme. But after visiting the dargah for prayer, he went to a local hotel where a large number of his followers had gathered. He addressed them and had meal with them.

This had raised a hue and cry. Onkar Singh Lakhawat, a senior BJP leader, raised the issue and had sent memorandums to the President of India and the Prime Minister, saying it was against the protocol and the local officials allowed him meekly to address the religious gatherings. District collector Manju Rajpal had appointed a committee, headed by Samir Singh, ASP. In his report, Singh had found four officials, protocol officer Sunita Daga, chief executive of dargah Vishnudev Samtani, Ganj Thana SHO Ravinder Yadav, and DySP of the area Nemichand guilty and recommended action against them.

According to the report, Fahim was to return to the Circuit House after praying at the dargah. But suddenly has cavalcade moved towards a hotel, where a large number of his followers had gathered. He addressed them on a mike and later had meal with them. On his part, Fahim maintained that he had not made any speech but had only blessed his followers.
