Ammo haul in Odisha Maoist hideout bust
Border Security Forces and local police on Tuesday busted a Maoist camp in the Tekguda jungle in Kalimela under Malkangiri district.
The forces surrounded the Maoist hideout during a routine combing operation and seized 12 electric detonators, seven gelatin sticks, 30 metres of codex wire and 20 metres of electric wire from the camp, according to Malkangiri IIC, RK Pati.
Pati said the Maoists’ were possibly planning to use the explosives during the forthcoming panchyat elections in the district to disrupt the poll process.
Nobody was arrested during the combing operation.
In another joint operation on Tuesday, they recovered five tiffin bombs from Singabharam area, said Kalimela IIC Aniruddha Routray.
The security forces have intensified their combing operations in the area and have kept a tight vigil over the entry of suspicious elements to prevent possible disruptions in the poll process.
