HC seeks status report from Odisha
Even as liquor tragedy victims of Cuttack and Khurda districts are showing signs of recovery at the SCB Medical College hospital here, the Odisha High Court on Friday asked the State Government to file a status report on the incident immediately.
Converting a letter petition into a PIL, the Division Bench of Chief Justice V Gopala Gowda and Justice BN Mohapatra adjudicated over the writ and asked the State Excise Commissioner to file details showing what action he has taken on an earlier order of the High Court passed in November 2011 to check the trade in illicit liquor in the State.
