Questioning the Congress intention in raising the Batla House case just before elections, BSP chief and UP Chief Minister Mayawati said had the party leading the UPA Government been serious on unravelling the truth, it should have ordered a judicial probe into the encounter instead of shedding crocodile tears now.
“The Congress is enacting a drama on the Batla House case. It is trying to emotionally blackmail Muslims by telling them stories about how people cried on seeing pictures of encounter. If Congress was serious in providing relief to Muslims, it should have ordered judicial probe into the incident so that people could know the truth,” Mayawati said while addressing election meetings in Mirzapur and Sonebhadra on Saturday.
The BSP supremo said if Congress’ intention were clear it should have implemented Sachar Committee report. "By ignoring the Sachar Committee report, the UPA Government has betrayed people. The Congress has always used Muslims as vote bank as a result of which this community has lagged behind in all spheres of life," she said and asked Muslims to beware of such tactics of the Congress.
"The 9 per cent reservation promised to minorities within the 27 per cent OBC quota is also an attempt to fool Muslims. The Congress is trying to replicate the British policy of divide and rule and has therefore come up with the idea of sub-quota within quota," she said.
Mayawati said the Congress had ruled the state for over 40 years and had formed governments at the Centre for over 50 years but it had never implemented policies for the welfare of the minority community, backwards and Dalits. And the schemes of those who thought of doing something for the poor and downtrodden were spiked, she added.
"Stay away from these false allurement and vote for the BSP for the betterment of the state and its people," she said.
