Raids on ponty: CBDT official ‘shunted’
Central Board of Direct Tax official SS Rana, who steered raids on the premises of UP liquor and real estate baron Ponty Chadha earlier this month has been transferred. Rana, sources said, has been transferred because of unprofessional handling of the raids. CBDT, however, termed it a routine administrative exercise. On Thursday, the CBDT, which is the administrative authority of the I-T Department, denied reports that Chadha was tipped off about the searches. Chadha has business interests in real estate and liquor in UP, Delhi and Punjab.
